THE HIGHSCHOOL
DESIGNED BY PARENTS
FOR THEIR CHILDREN
CONCEPT: LEADER IN ME
More than 6000 schools in over 50 countries worldwide have implemented in different ways and measures "Leader in Me" as a pedagogic concept. In Germany, the Sieben Brücken Schule in Cologne will be the first one in Germany to fully implement the "Leader in Me" concept. "Leader in Me" is an evidence-based, integrative model that primarily seeks to develop a sense of responsibility and supports building positive habits. Our main focus is to build a school culture that conveys self-confidence and trust to the highest degree. In this context, we refer to the Christian image of man insofar as it places the inalienable dignity of every person at the center of all educational efforts.
CREATING SYNERGIES
BE A STRONG ALLY FOR PARENTS
We particularly involve parents in the educational process: through advice, workshops and a special tutoring program that primarily benefits the children. We are focused on supporting young people become independent and build proactive personalities. This requires a close cooperation between the school and home. Since both bear their specific responsibility in our children's growing up journey.
GIRLS AND BOYS GENDER-SENSITIVE EDUCATION
Boys in particular often suffer from certain limitations and a lack of understanding in the usual school environment. Structural disadvantages for boys correspond to subject-specific disadvantages for girls. We want to make our contribution to stopping the growing proportion of male losers in education and, on the other hand, to provide more targeted support for girls in subjects such as technology and natural sciences.

When does school start?
The school will open its doors in the 2023/2024 school year, i.e. on August 7, 2023. The prerequisite for this is that the approval requirements of the NRW School Act and the Ordinance on Substitute Schools (ESchVO) are met and that the Sieben Brücken School is allowed to start as a state-recognized comprehensive school .
How many children are accepted at the Sieben Brücken Schule?
In the first and second year of operation (2023/2024 and 2024/2025) we offer up to 25 places per class in grades 5 and 7. From the school year 2025/2026 we can set up two 5th class with around 25 children each. In the final phase, around 450 pupils will study at the Sieben Brücken Schule.
Will school fees be charged?
No, there are no school fees as per se. However, in order to keep the school running, we need an average of around €150 per child per month in addition to the grants from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. You can use this amount as a guideline. You are free to donate as much as our educational work is worth to you and how much you can afford.
According to what criteria are students admitted?
The pedagogical team of the school decide on the application after an admission and counseling interview. It will depend on suitability. In particular, the parents' willingness to support our culture and the child's wishes play a decisive role. The amount of the monthly donation contribution is not a subject than influences in any way.
What qualifications are offered at the Sieben Brücken Schule?
All qualifications and courses of study that are otherwise offered at public schools.
What are the school times?
Your child can be taken care of from 7.30 a.m onwards. Lessons start at 8:45 am. Extra curricular activities are set up on Mondays and Fridays until 4 p.m. Classes are held until 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday.
Can children with special educational needs be admitted?
Yes. We set up around three places for children with special needs each year.
Are there special course contents or deviations from the state curriculum?
No we follow all specifications, curriculum and guidelines of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The founders of the Seven Bridges School are Christian families. What does this mean for the school culture?
The Sieben Brücken Schule is not a denominational school and is open to all children. There is also no compulsory religious education. The foundation of our educational efforts is the dignity of every human being. Our educational concept Leader in Me is the center of our school culture.
How does internal differentiation take place?
As a rule, the learning groups are not divided into different, geographically and organizationally separated groups, but are equipped with individually adapted tasks and learning plans. You can find out more about this in our concept for individual support.

WHO ARE WE?
The Siebenbrücken eV is a Foundation of Christian families which will open a Gesamtschule in Cologne-Lövenich in August 2023. This is done proactively because we need more people to take responsibility in society. All those involved in the initiative contribute with their specific expertise, be it educational, legal, administrative...
The pedagogical concept "Leader in Me" will make possible to teach the children a sense of ownership and habits that will help them in their daily life. That is why Sieben Brücken Schule's culture is based on empowering self-confidence and trust. Your child is at the center of our educational efforts.
State-recognized alternative schools receive funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia amounting to 87% of the costs of a public school. As a private school, we have to raise the remaining 13% through donations. We therefore ask all parents of our school to make a monthly contribution according to their individual possibilities. €150 is recommended. However, the support of the school association is not a criterial for admission!
